She was born in Salem Oregon August 29th, 1942.  She was the first and only child to be born to John “Jack” & Lucille Peck.

They lived on a ranch in Spray Oregon, until they moved to Susanville around 1952 due to Lucille & Carol’s Asthma problems.  Carol Loved all animals especially Cats & Birds.  One story her Mom loved telling was about the milk cow and how she was not giving milk like she normally did.   Carol was about 6 years old.  So one day she followed Carol out to the barn being very careful not to be seen.  Carol was calling the cats and telling them take their places and they all lined up in a row and she would call each one by name and aim the cow’s teat and proceed to give each cat a squirt of milk, Lucile remarked at how each cat sat there patiently awaiting his or her turn for the very delicious creamy milk.  Every animal on the farm was her pet.

While in Susanville she was always stopping by the homes of her elderly friends and helping them with the things they needed help with.  She also learned Ceramics and knitting, and crochet.   She also crocheted Baby afghans for everyone that she met, in their favorite colors.  She also crochets beanie caps for children with cancer and for new born baby’s.  She was a very good Seamstress often making her own clothes or clothes for her kids.  She loved art of all kinds.  She was an excellent cook and Baker.  She was a cake decorator; her Cakes were a work of art. Carol was beloved by all she met.  She was a volunteer Candy Striper at the hospital.  She won Miss Lassen County & was runner up for Miss California 1958.

She was a volunteer for a new Pilot Program in Kings County in 1972, she soon after was asked to be the program director of the Senior Nutrition program.  She was instrumental in helping create the WIC program, Meals on wheels for seniors, Rural Transit program, and many others.   For her work with seniors she was given an Award by the NAACP.   She later started her own Ceramic Shop and named it “Taylor’s Mud Puddle” in the garage of her Family home in Lemoore, California, she ran that for 4 years.  In 1981 She purchased a Bored and Care home for Seniors. She ran that for 13 years before closing down the business do to health reasons and moving to Susanville.  Where she went to Lassen college to get her High School Diploma.

They tested her to only find out she was 82% dyslexic.  All of these accomplishments and many more not mentioned all accomplished by some one that struggled with a very difficult disability.
