A residential structure fire, which burned during the early morning hours of January 9th, did extensive damage to a residence and displaced a family of four.
According to details released Wednesday by Susanville Fire Department Captain Hal Phillips, the department along with automatic aid from Cal Fire responded to a reported residential structure fire at 1501 Riverside Drive just before 2:00 Monday morning.
“On arrival of the first-in engine company,” said Phillips, “heavy smoke and fire were found coming from the front, side and rear of a single family residence attached a commercial building.”
Firefighters performed fire attack and ventilation operations and knocked down the fire in less than 20 minutes. Salvage and overhaul operations were also performed.
The residence and its contents sustained extensive fire, heat and smoke damage according to Phillips.
A family of four including two adults and two children were home at the time of the fire and escaped uninjured.
Investigation into the cause of the fire is pending at press time.
Agencies also assisting in the incident were Susanville Police Department, Lassen County Sheriff, LMUD and Red Cross.
