Firefighters made quick work of a small wildfire that broke out Thursday in a stand of timber on Logan Mountain in western Lassen County, on lands managed by the U.S. Forest Service.
On July 6th, according to Lassen National Forest Public Affairs Officer Nancy Barrera, fire resources responded to a smoke located on the west side of Logan Mountain to find a fire burning in a mixed conifer timber stand.
The fire, on the Eagle Lake Ranger District, was initially identified by the Harvey Mountain Lookout.
Hand crews, fire engines, dozers, helicopters and airtankers were among the initial responders sent to fight the blaze. Initial attack response included resources from the U.S. Forest Service, CALFIRE, Bureau of Land Management and the National Park Service.
On Friday, fire crews continued to strengthen containment lines on the Antelope Fire which is currently 80% contained at 18 acres.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Forest Service Officals are asking forest visitors to keep wildfire prevention in mind and be careful when camping, cutting fuelwood and driving in the forest.
