Valley Christian Center will be presenting a special program focusing on reducing the stigma of mental illness and helping those who are hurting on September 23rd in Susanville.
The 4-hour workshop is entitled ‘ARISE – Mental Health and the Church’ and will feature three speakers; Lassen Family Services’ Executive Director Peter Celum; Dale and Angela Claiborne, Pastors from Fresno Valley Christian Center and Jennifer Kirklin, Pastor and Addiction Specialist.
“We know all too well the stigma and fear associated with mental illness,” say the event organizers. “We are each affected in some way when 1 in 4 people have a diagnosable mental illness. Our goal is to create healthy dialogue within our community by bringing understanding, truth and encouragement.”
The event will be held at Valley Christian Center, 1401 Riverside Drive beginning at 9:00a.m.
