CHP Update: No Injuries Reported in Two-Car Johnstonville Collision

A Susanville man was arrested on suspicion of Driving Under the Influence Friday after a two-car collision on Johnstonville Road near Highway 395 in Johnstonville.

At about 6:05p.m. on January 31st, according to details provided by the Susanville Office of the California Highway Patrol, units responded to a traffic collision reported on Johnstonville Road in front of Johnstonville Quality Foods.

Officers arrived to find two vehicles blocking the road and a number of people standing in the area. No injuries were reported and the vehicles were quickly removed from the roadway.

The preliminary investigation revealed that 32-year old Susanville resident Michael Grooms, while traveling southbound, attempted to make a left tum in front of 2013 Dodge Dart driven by Susanville resident Jimmie Hernandez-Guerra, who had just turned onto northbound Johnstonville Road from Hwy 395.

Moderate damage was sustained by both vehicles. Neither the drivers or their passengers were injured.

According to the CHP report Grooms was arrested at the scene on suspicion of DUI and was booked into the Lassen County Jail.
