March 20, 1949

Movement for a Susanville youth center got under way with momentum this week. Six petitions were being circulated by Lassen Union High School students, in two days a total of 255 signatures were on the petitions and they are still being circulated.

The idea of the petitions to stir action for a youth center was conceived by Lynn Soule, freshman. She was aided in their circulation by William Kemp, Orville Bartlett, Donna Bertoti, Nadine Dunnette, Frances and Caroline Webb, all students.

A general meeting has been announced, of adult representatives of local clubs, organizations and churches, to discuss the problem thoroughly with a committee possibly resulting to work further on the project.
