As of 5:00p.m. Thursday the Lassen County Office of Emergency Services is reporting that Lassen county is still free of known COVID-19 cases.
So far 71 people in the county have been tested with 56 negative results and 15 tests still pending.
According to the Lassen OES many local children have been seen out with friends at parks and other areas around town. It is important to make sure children are adhering to the stay-at-home order issued by Governor Newsom.
Here are some guidelines released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention:
- No in-person playdates with children from other households
- Children should maintain 6 feet from anyone who is not in their household
- Clean hands often
It is important to understand that children meeting in groups can put everyone at risk. The CDC states that children may only exhibit mild symptoms from COVID-19, but can still pass the virus on to others that are at risk.
For this reason, it is suggested that trips to visit older relatives or those with serious underlying medical conditions be postponed.
With schools switching to distance learning and social distancing being one of the best preventative measures, children can still maintain social connections with supervised phone calls or video chats, email or letters sent via mail.
