Bert Fred Ithurburn
Fred passed away peacefully on October 24, 2015 surrounded by his family.
Fred was born on April 17, 1932 in Susanville, CA and was one of three siblings born to Bert and Catherine Ithurburn, both immigrants of the French Basque community. He spent his childhood as a sheepherder in Susanville. Fred served in the Marines as a 1st Lieutenant where he met his wife of 57 years, Teresa Ann, who was serving as a Nurse. He was an attorney for over 50 years, beginning his career in the Bay area, relocating to the Yuba-Sutter area where he spent the majority of his life.
Fred is survived by his wife, Teresa Ann and seven children: Bert Ithurburn, Mary Elizabeth (Lisa) Reines and her husband Brian, Michael Ithurburn and his wife Sylvia, Ann Marie Goyhenetche and her husband Bernard, Robert Ithurburn, Teresa Conacher and her husband Ian, John Paul Ithurburn and his wife, Hope, 12 grandchildren, one great grandchild, and sister, Juliette Fogarty. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Jeanette Louise Ithurburn and brother, Peter Ithurburn.
Fred will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather, as well as a friend to many.
Mass will be held at St. Isidore Catholic Church on Thursday, October 29th at 10:00 am, with the rosary at 9:30 am. The burial will immediately follow at the Sutter Cemetery with a memorial reception following.
Donations in his memory may be made to St. Isidore Catholic School.
