Better Choice Storage
One of Susanville’s largest mini-storage providers has changed hands, and new owners Stratton Brown and Kalanni Young are working hard to renovate the facility on Johnstonville Road into what they call, “a welcoming space for the Susanville community.”
“Our hearts are set on making a positive impact and being a part of the warmth that makes Susanville so special,” explains Young.
“We’ve truly fallen in love with the Susanville area, and we’re dedicated to being involved and giving back to this wonderful community.”
The name has changed to Better Choice Storage, with the owners calling it a community-focused storage solution. The changes run deeper than just a new paint job on the storage facility.
“At Better Choice Storage, we take pride in being a family-run business with a strong commitment to community engagement.”
Better Choice offers monthly move-in specials with exclusive offers for all new customers, a referral program and exclusive discounts for Lassen Community College students and seniors.
“We are excited about the opportunity to serve and become an integral part of the Susanville community. Better Choice Storage is more than just a storage facility; it’s a community-driven space that cares about your storage needs. Join us in making storage better for everyone!”
Better Choice Storage is located on Johnstonville Road, and you can contact them at 1.530.251.5625 or visit their website at www.betterchoicestorage.com.
Chamber of Commerce Names New President for 2024
The Lassen County Chamber of Commerce has named Chris Johnson as Chamber Board President for the upcoming year. Johnson is the General Manager for Susanville Auto Center on Richmond Road east in Johnstonville.
Johnson was born and raised in Redding, working in the automotive retail industry for 25 years. He has owned and operated multiple family businesses with his wife Laurie, including a retail Christmas tree lot for 14 years, a coin operated car wash and detail company for 5 years, two Tire Pros locations in Northern California and a High-End Clothing store.
“You can accomplish anything you want as long as you don’t care who gets the credit for it,” Johnson says, quoting American football coach Blanton Collier.
“As we move to 2024, I am humbled to be the chamber president and believe we will accomplish great things, I can say that confidently because currently we have a great group of business minded people serving on the chamber board that are all eager help promote healthy business in our community.”
Johnson explains that he came to Susanville when Jeremy Cunningham, a longtime friend and employer, purchased the Susanville Ford store. He was asked to come up and help him get the store up and running but after working and staying in Susanville for six months he was impressed by the community and felt it was a better place for he and his wife to raise their three children.
In August 2018 they purchased a home and moved here to stay.
“I am big on building the community as well as giving back to the community,” says Johnson. “I believe if you want a community to grow and survive you have to invest in it not just financially but get involved personally.”
