6:24 Update
According to Lassen Office of Emergency Services Chief Eric Ewing progress of the fire was halted at 4.5 acres with no damage to any structures.
The cause of the fire has been determined to be a mechanical malfunction on a vehicle.
Air tankers have been released from the scene and fire crews are working to mop up the fire.
This will end our continuing coverage of the fire and this post will no longer be updated. If there are further developments they will be reported in a new story. -jc
5:11 Update
Additional air resources are being turned around as firefighters gain the upper hand on the fire.
According to radio traffic CHP will be reopening one lane of traffic at around 5:20p.m.

The road closure on Highway 36 has been expanded. The highway is now closed from Harris Drive west of Susanville, to the intersection of 36 and A1 (the Eagle Lake turnoff).

Lassen County Sheriff’s Deputies and CHP units have shut down traffic on the highway from Rocky Crest Mobile home park just outside of Susanville to the intersection of 36 and A1.
Spot fires are reported along the roadway in the area of Dockery Lane.
Crews are responding from agencies across the valley and air attack is on order at this time.
Deputies are making emergency notifications on Dockery and Cable Line road.

Emergency crews are responding to a reported series of spot fires burning along the highway west of Susanville.
