Gayle was born on March 16, 1960, one of eight children. She married Lon Lee Hubbard on December 31, 1980. Together they had three children: Michael, Jason, and Katherine and Gayle always loved Lee’s oldest child, Michelle, as one of her own. They moved to the Susanville area in 1984, where Gayle became a cornerstone of the community.
