
A routine traffic enforcement stop for cell phone use on Main Street led to a felony drug arrest Tuesday morning, according to details released by the Susanville Police Department.
On August 18th, at approximately 9:00a.m., Susanville Police officers patrolling Main Street near Lassen Street observed the driver of a white Jeep Rubicon using a cell phone while operating the vehicle – a violation of the California Vehicle Code.
Officers initiated a traffic stop on the Jeep near the intersection of Main and Cottage streets. During the initial contact, officers detected a strong odor of marijuana emanating from inside the vehicle.
A records check further revealed that the driver was currently on active Siskiyou County probation with full search terms.
A subsequent search of the Jeep uncovered approximately 55 individual plastic containers containing suspected concentrated cannabis. Additionally, officers discovered approximately $1,930 in cash on the driver’s person.

The driver, identified by police as Austin Douglas Shapiro Heath, was arrested and transported to the Lassen County Jail, where he was booked on charges related to the possession of concentrated cannabis for sale and transportation.
The suspected THC concentrate, cash and related evidence were seized and booked into evidence at the Susanville Police Department.
