Chamber of Commerce Update for December 18th: Chamber Welcomes New Officers and Board Members

The Chamber elected two new members to serve on the board of directors at the December board meeting and is pleased to welcome Robert Phelps, of AAA Insurance, and Matthew Pregill, of Pregill Insurance, to the board. They will officially begin their terms in January 2013.

The chamber board elected a slate of officers to serve for 2013 they are; President Jessika Johnson, Community Relations Director at Eagle Lake Village, Vice President Kathie Garnier, Senior Mortgage Consultant at Eagle Home Mortgage, and Treasurer, Jeff Trump, of Haws, Theobald, and Auman, CPA. Thank you to Ed Swayze, of Customer Talk, for his service as chamber president the past year, and Theresa Phillips, for her nine plus years serving on the board of directors.

If your business, club, or organization is planning a special event for the coming year, be sure to forward the information to the Chamber office as far in advance as possible so that we can add it to the calendar and help you get the word out about your event. This is a free service provided to the entire community.

Ranger led snowshoe walks at Lassen Volcanic Park will beginning December 22 and continue through April 7, leaving from the Kohm Yah-mah-nee Visitor Center, on Saturdays and Sundays at 1:30 p.m. Rangers will also lead more challenging snowshoe hikes to Ridge Lakes on select dates, available by reservation only.  Also look for exciting events at the park this winter including the annual Lassen Film Festival, January 19 & 20, and winter astronomy events.

The Kohm Yah-mah-nee Visitor Center is open year-round, winter hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day except Tuesdays and Wednesdays.  Visitors traveling to the park should be prepared for winter weather and driving conditions.  For more information, please contact the park at (530) 595-4480 or visit the park website at www.nps.gov/lavo.

The Chamber has ordered a limited quantity of 2013 Labor Law Posters. They are for sale to Chamber members for $25.00 per poster or non-member for $35.00 per poster. The poster contains the mandatory notices that must be posted at each work place. Pre-orders are now being taken.  The Labor Law posters are due to arrive by mid December. Contact the Chamber office staff at 257-4323 if you would like to have a poster reserved for your business.
