The California Highway Patrol has released details surrounding an August 2nd, single-vehicle accident on Highway 32 that lead to fatal injuries for a 16 year-old Westwood resident and sent her 18 year-old passenger to Enloe Hospital with moderate injuries.
According to the CHP the 2003 Subaru Forester driven by the Westwood girl was traveling westbound on Highway 32 near the Lower Alder Creek Bridge shortly after noon when, for unknown reasons, the vehicle crossed over double yellow lanes striking a tree.
The driver, who is not yet being identified, succumbed to her injuries early Tuesday morning. Her passenger, identified by the CHP as 18 year-old Westwood resident Delaney Dreith, was transported to Enloe Hospital for treatment.
Both of the vehicle’s occupants were wearing seatbelts at the time of the collision, which is still under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
