A Susanville man was injured Sunday after he lost control of the off-highway vehicle he was driving on a private road near Lake Almanor.
According to details released by the Susanville office of the California Highway Patrol a man identified as 18-year old James Robberson was traveling eastbound on the 20G road, near Big Springs road, at an unsafe speed for the dirt roadway conditions and making unsafe turning movements.
The unsafe speed and the unsafe turning movements caused Robberson to lose control of the vehicle as it traveled through a slight curve in the roadway.
The vehicle left the south side of the road and traveled up a steep dirt and rock embankment before overturning. He was ejected as it rolled over.
Robberson sustained major injury to his ribs and possible spinal cord. He was flown to Renown Medical Center for treatment.
The CHP report notes that although Robberson sustained major injury, he was wearing a properly rated helmet which prevented serious head trauma.
