CHP Report: Highway 36 Collision Blamed on Sleepy Driver

Two California Pines residents were injured January 23rd after their vehicle wandered off Highway 36 and collided with several trees near the Westwood Cemetery.

According to a report issued by the California Highway Patrol office in Susanville, a man identified as 62-year old Wyatt White was driving his 1999 Ford westbound on Highway 36 shortly after 2:00p.m., an unknown speed when he fell asleep.

The vehicle left the roadway, collided with multiple trees and sustained major damage as a result of the collision.

White was transported to Banner Lassen Medical Center by ground ambulance with moderate injuries.

His passenger, 53-year old Nickolas Schneider suffered minor injuries as a result of the collision but refused medical transport.

The vehicle was towed from the scene.
