policeupdateOfficers from the Susanville Police Department responded to the area of Main and Lassen Streets at around 2:00p.m., Wednesday for a traffic collision which sent a toddler to Banner Lassen with minor injuries and damaged the light standard at the northwest corner of the busy uptown intersection.

When officers arrived, according to Susanville Police Lieutenant Matt Wood, they located a gold 2005 Toyota Camry with major damage that had collided with the light pole. A blue 2011 Chevrolet Silverado pickup with moderate damage was located facing west in the outside westbound lane on Main Street.

“Through the course of the investigation,” said Lieutenant Wood, “it was determined that the driver of the Toyota, identified as 24 year-old Susanville resident Monica Patton of Susanville, was attempting to cross Main Street to North Lassen Street from South Lassen Street, when her vehicle was struck broadside by the Chevrolet pickup which was traveling westbound on Main Street.”

The collision caused Patton to lose control of her vehicle and collide with the light pole.

The driver of the Chevrolet pickup was identified by police as 42 year-old Orland resident Heather Alexander.

A 1 year old passenger in Patton’s vehicle was transported to Banner Lassen Medical Center by SEMSA Ambulance with cuts to the facial area. Neither of the drivers were injured in the collision.

The Susanville Police Department was assisted at the scene of the accident by the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office.
