The Crisis Response Team from the California Correctional Center and High Desert State Prison earned top honors last week at the 3rd annual Yuba-Sutter SWAT Challenge. The competition presents crisis response teams with an array of tactical scenarios to test their mental and physical strength.
Our local response team took on four other Northern California teams from Stockton, Butte County, Folsom and Citrus Heights.
Tactical teams were challenged with a two-man combat course, open area search, physical challenges, a multi-gun course, a handgun course, dignitary protection, an active shooter scenario and hostage rescue scenarios.
The CCC/HDSP team was awarded first place for dignitary protection and first place for the active shooter scenario.
CRT members also placed first for the multi-gun course, two-man combat course and second in the handgun course and physical challenge.
