The California Highway Patrol’s Susanville office is investigating a fatal traffic collision that occurred on October 11th, when, according to the CHP report, a 44-year-old Chico resident who was driving westbound on State Route 32, east of Alder Creek Campground, lost control of his 2002 Honda sedan.
The vehicle crossed the eastbound lane and adjoining shoulder before plunging down a steep, rocky slope.
Despite lifesaving efforts by passersby and first responders, the driver succumbed to injuries at the scene. His identity is being withheld pending notification of family.
The CHP is asking for the public’s help in the investigation. Anyone who may have witnessed the collision is urged to contact the Susanville Communications Center at 1.530.252.1900.
The CHP thanked all those who stopped to assist, and the following agencies for their support: CalFire, Tehama Fire-Mineral, St. Elizabeth’s Ambulance, Reach 5, Tehama County Sheriff’s Department and Chester Caltrans.
