All up and down Main Street in Susanville tomorrow you will see a curious sight.
The local Soaring Eagle Blue Star Moms will be lining the road, holding their big annual Fill-A-Combat Boot campaign and they need your donations.
Here is why
365 days a year the Soaring Eagle Blue Star Moms are here to support the troops with projects ranging from care packages for our troops overseas, to raising money to help wounded veterans.
The Blue Star Moms also travel throughout the area welcoming service men and women home when their tours have ended.
They are responsible for helping build houses for wounded veterans and whenever the family of a local soldier is in need, they are there for them.
The list of good deeds goes on and on, but your support is needed to help them continue.
Christine Boyd, president of the local Blue Star chapter, said the biggest hurdle the group faces is the cost of postage to send items overseas.
Care packages and other items are mailed on a regular basis, and this year the Blue Star Moms are also planning a campaign to gather sports and recreational equipment for the troops. As you can well imagine the postage to send these items to military zones overseas is enormous.
The Blue Star Moms will be out on Main Street taking your donations between 9:00a.m. and 3:00p.m. on Saturday, June 2nd.
