A building at 2772 Main Street, which for decades housed the Sierra Lanes Bowling Alley, sustained extensive damage from smoke and fire Saturday evening according to details released by the Susanville Fire Department.
According to Fire Captain Tom Hernandez, theĀ department, along with automatic aid from the Susan River Fire Protection District, CAL Fire, and mutual aid from the California Correctional Center responded toĀ theĀ commercial structure fire at around 7:19p.m.
“Upon arrival of the first-in engine company, smoke and fire was seen coming from the roof,” saidĀ Captain Hernandez.Ā “An aggressive coordinated attack contained the fire at approximately 7:42p.m.”
Extensive salvage and overhaul operationsĀ were performed. A small portion of the interior of the building was a complete loss and the remainder of the building sustained extensive smoke damage.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Agencies also assisting in the incident were Susanville Police Department, Susanville City Public Works, CHP, CAL OES Air 1, Lassen County Sheriffs’ Office, Janesville Fire Protection District and Sierra Army Depot Fire Department.
