The Lassen County Sheriff’s Department and the FBI are on the case after two people hunting in an mountainous area south of Doyle early Sunday came across what they believed to be a human skull.
According to Sergeant Kevin Jones, personnel discovered what has been determined to be a skull, along with several other bones which appear to be consistent with that of a human.
In addition to the bones a pair of pants was found in the area.
Preliminary investigation by deputies shows that the bone parts cover a large area which will require multiple personnel for a thorough search effort.
“Our agency has enlisted the assistance of the Forensic and Anthropology units of the Federal Bureau of Investigation,” said Sergeant Jones, “They will be sending personnel to assist our Investigative Unit. Work has already begun to research all missing person reports in our County in the past.”
Information will be updated when it is available.
