Intruder Startles Sleeping Woman: Cash Taken After Struggle

A 32 year-old Susanville resident was startled early Thursday morning when she awoke to find she wasn’t alone in her home in the 100 block of South Fairfield street.

An intruder was rummaging through belongings when the woman woke up and, according to the victim, she was “struck a few times about the face and head by the intruder” who then fled the residence with some personal property including the woman’s wallet with an undisclosed amount of cash inside.

When officers from the Susanville Police Department arrived shortly after 3:00a.m. on May 30th, they found the woman suffering injuries which included swelling and a small laceration on her head and forehead.

According to Police Lieutenant Matt Wood the victim declined to be transported to the hospital, however she was treated for her injuries at the scene by medics.
