Dancers from Susanville’s J and J Competitive Dance Team traveled to Reno Friday to perform at the Encore Performing Arts Competition’s regional dance event, earning 5 Platinum Awards, High Golds and Gold awards. Because of COVID restrictions it was the first time the team had been allowed to compete in nearly a year.
The dancers performed at the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno, competing in ‘studio block’ where all routines were finished in a little over an hour. This was to ensure no studio mingling and adhere to social distance guidelines.
“It’s so good to be back on the stage for these dancers,” said J and J owner Jessica Wade.
“11 months of no competition! They loved every second of it! Even though it was very different than what we normally do.”
Overall scores from the competition won’t be announced till Tuesday.
