A 58-year-old Janesville man, whose name has not yet been released by the Lassen County Sheriff Coroner’s office, was fatally injured Friday night, and his passenger flown to Renown Medical Center with major injuries, after the Polaris RZR side-by-side they were driving collided with a truck at the intersection of Lakecrest Road and County Road A3, just east of Janesville.
According to details provided by the Susanville office of the California Highway Patrol, shortly before 10:00 Friday the unidentified driver and his passenger, identified as 53-year-old Janesville resident Stacie Sisson, were in the side-by-side traveling southeast on Lakecrest Road.
At the same moment, the driver of a Dodge Ram pickup, identified as 40-year-old Reno resident Jacob Beauchman, was driving a Dodge Ram pickup southwest on A3 approaching the intersection with Lakecrest.
“The vehicles collided in the intersection causing the Polaris to overturn. The driver and Stacie Sisson were ejected from the Polaris,” explains CHP Public Information Officer Bruce Thuelchassaigne.
The driver of the side-by-side was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Stacie Sisson was transported to Renown Medical Center in Reno and Beauchman was not injured.
Thuelchassaigne said that alcohol may be a contributing factor in this crash and that the incident is still under investigation by the Susanville Area, CHP.
