Red Flag Fire Weather Warning
The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning in effect from 1:00p.m. this afternoon to 9:00 this evening for thunderstorms and strong outflow winds for the northeastern Sierra…northeastern California and far northwestern Nevada.
The Red Flag Warning is for Surprise Valley California, western Lassen, eastern Plumas, eastern Sierra and eastern Nevada counties, eastern Lassen County and northern Washoe County.
Thunderstorms – Isolated to scattered thunderstorms will develop by this afternoon and continue into the evening. There will be a mix of wet and dry storms.
Forecasters expect outflow winds with gusts greater than 60 mph possible.
Impacts… dry lightning may create new fire starts and combine with strong outflow winds to produce rapid fire growth. Report new fires to 911 immediately. Continue to check weather.Gov/Reno for updates and preparedness tips.
