
It is with deep sadness, we share that Joyce Janet Hanrahan, 86, passed away February 10, 2025, peacefully at her residence in Redding, after a brief illness and hospitalization.
Joyce was born Joyce Janet Richards on August 11, 1938, in Afton, Missouri, to Elton Richards and Leota Maples. Joyce moved to Susanville as a young child and graduated from Susanville High School in 1956. Joyce then attended Reno Business College and had a long career in accounting, working as an executive assistance at the Susanville Court House, Lassen High School, and the Tax Collectors Office.
Joyce married Raymond Sanchez in 1957 and had two children. Wendy (Sanchez), (McElroy), Ithaburn and Rocky Sanchez.
Joyce married again to Vern Hanrahan in 1988 and lived in Yuba City, CA where they spend their days traveling before moving to Spokane WA to be closer to their grandchildren.
Joyce is survived by her sister Angelique Brewen of Susanville, grandchildren, Mallory McElroy and Madison McElroy both of Bellingham Washington, Niece’s Kristie Ruddell of Niceville Florida, Becky Anderson (Donald) of Redding CA, and Cerena Brewen of Reno, NV. Joyce was preceded in death by her husband Vern Hanrahan, children Wendy Ithaburn
and Rocky Sanchez as mentioned above, and her sister Bonnie Graham of Yreka.
Joyce’s niece Becky who has been a hugh part of her final years wants to thank all her family and friend for being part of her wonderful life. A grave site memorial will be held at the Lassen Cemetery on July 14th, 2025, at 10 a.m. for family and friends.
