
The Lassen Fire Safe Council has announced that Dan Weaver, Director of Fire Technology at Lassen Community College, will be the featured guest speaker at the group’s General Meeting on Wednesday, August 19th.
The meeting will be held at 5:30p.m. at the Susan River Fire Hall, located at 705-145 Highway 395 in Johnstonville. Light refreshments will be provided for all attendees.
Community members are invited to attend and learn about the exciting opportunities available for entering the fire technology and firefighting fields through Lassen Community College.
The Lassen Fire Safe Council has actively supported LCC’s Fire Technology and Forestry programs through scholarships offered in partnership with the Lassen College Foundation & Alumni Association. These scholarship efforts are part of LFSC’s commitment to growing local workforce talent to better protect area communities from wildland fire and other disasters.
LCC’s Associate of Science in Fire Technology program is designed to equip students with updated skills and knowledge to compete successfully for positions in the fire service. The curriculum serves as both an in-service training program and a pre-employment pathway for students seeking employment or career advancement in urban firefighting and wildland fire suppression.
Programs and credentials offered through LCC’s Fire Technology department include:
- Associate of Science: Fire Technology – AS
- Certificate of Achievement: Fire Technology – CA
- Certificate of Achievement: Fire Technology – Basic Wildland Firefighter CA
- Certificate of Achievement: Cal Fire Academy
