Lassen High School will be holding their blood drive on Wednesday, October 28th and they are inviting all eligible Susanville community blood donors to come out and donate a pint of blood.
The Lassen High School blood drive will run from 8:30a.m. to 1:30p.m. and will be held in the high school’s gym, 1110 Main Street.
According to Donor Recruitment Representative Alma Cartagena the high school works closely with United Blood Services of Reno to ensure there is a sufficient supply of blood available for the community.
“We want all eligible blood donors in the Susanville community to be aware of our need for blood donations and how blood donations save the lives of friends and loved ones. We have developed an outstanding Limited Edition t-shirt for everyone donating blood on October 28th to help us accomplish this goal,” said Steve Thomas of United Blood Services.
Every blood donor donating this October 28th will also be receiving Hero in Me points. United Blood Services’ Hero in Me donor loyalty program is a way for donors to be recognized for their past donations with points that can be turned in for really cool prizes like movie tickets and ice cream. Potential donors can make an appointment to give blood at www.BloodHero.com or by calling 1-800-696-4484 with walk-ins always welcome.
“Blood donations are essential for our community’s hospital patients and other critically ill people in our community needing a blood transfusion to sustain life. October 28th is a great time to make your decision to donate a pint of blood,” continued Thomas.
United Blood Services of Reno is the sole blood products supplier to 20 hospitals in northern Nevada and they need approximately 125 blood donations every day to meet the increasing demand for their three principal blood products that are red blood cells, platelets and plasma.
