Lassen Land and Trails Trust’s Executive Director Louise Jensen released the organization’s calendar of events for 2015 this week. The schedule includes old favorites like the Rails to Trails Festival and Farmers’ Markets and interesting new events like the California Conservation Corps Recruitment event at Lassen College.
The following are dates of programs and events to be sponsored by Lassen Land and Trails Trust in 2015.
January 24th Discover Lassen: Cabin Fever Snowshoe, Ski & Soup! Activities start at 8:00 a.m.; meet at historic Susanville railroad depot; soup dinner at 5:00 p.m.—public invited, $10 donation per person, no-host bar, at the historic Susanville railroad depot, 601 Richmond Rd., Susanville.
February 11th Lassen County Environmental Education Collaborative’s California Conservation Corps Recruitment Event—Lassen College, 7:00 p.m.
Opportunity for regional high school and college students to learn about opportunities to work with the California Conservation Corps to gain important experience, modest income and build credit toward college tuition while working outdoors in natural resource management.
March 5th Meat Raffle, Lassen Ale Works, 7:00 p.m.
Great fun fundraising event to benefit the Trust’s work. Bringing Good Meat to Hungry People!
May 16th Paiute Meadows Run for Trails Susanville Ranch Park, Susanville, CA
June 6th Farmers’ Market Opening Day and National Trails Day
The Trust’s Lassen County Farmers’ Market begins its season. Open every Saturday through September 26 at the historic Susanville railroad depot from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Get the best is local produce, meat and eggs—not to mention great local artisan crafts, baked goods and other delicious ready-to-eat foods.
July 20th Lassen Land and Trails Trust’s Nature Camp: Session 1 Opens for 8 to 10 year olds.
July 27th Lassen Land and Trails Trust’s Nature Camp: Session 2 Opens for 8 to 12 year olds.
August 3rd Lassen Land and Trails Trust’s Nature Camp: Session 3 Opens for 11 and 12 year olds overnight camp.
September 26th Farmers’ Market Closing Day
October 10th Rails to Trails Festival
Annual festival celebrating and raising funds for our region’s trails. Historic Susanville railroad depot, 12:00 noon to 4:00 p.m. Historic handcar races, chili cook-off and salsa contest, regional artisans, great food and activities galore for the family.
November 7th Lassen Land and Trails Trust’s Season Wrap Party, 7:00 p.m. at the historic Susanville railroad depot. A celebration of the season and opportunity to say thanks to all of the Trust’s volunteers.
