Inn is burned on Reno Highway
February 14th, 1947

Paradise Inn, on the Susanville – Reno highway 36, near Johnstonville, burned to the ground Wednesday night.

Loss is estimated at about $4,000 by Ranger William F. Mann, whose state forestry equipment fought the blaze. It was reported insured.

The property is owned by Theodore Aldave of Portola and leased to Murl Brown.

Phone service was out at the inn, and the call for fire fighting apparatus was given by driving into Susanville, a distance of five miles.

The fire, Mann said, started from a faulty flue.
