Prepared for Emergencies
January 31, 1916
Last week, while the lines of the Lassen Electric Company were out of commission as a result of the great storms, the various buildings in town having steam heat were in a sorry plight.
The wires were down, and without the “juice” the heating plants were useless.
The big Knoch Building and the Knoch Annex, the home of the Advocate, are steam heated, as is also the residence of Mr. Knoch, and Issac is supposed to furnish the steam.
For a few days about all the Advocate printers could do was shiver and cuss until the power came on, when the atmosphere cleared and all became serene.
Mr. Knoch did some thinking, and the result is that when ill luck befalls the electric power system a fine gasoline engine, already installed, will take up the work: and it is to be hoped there will be no more freezing – nor cussing.
