Lassen County Has About 60 Slackers
January 8, 1918
The local exemption board of Lassen County completed the work of sending the questionnaire on January 4th. Under the regulations these should have all been returned by the 14th but each mail is still bringing in a few.
Many of the questionnaires are being returned unclaimed.
The postmasters of the county have proved delinquent in the return of such papers and final figures are not yet available as to the number of such unclaimed papers.
Under the law men who have changed their address without notifying the board are classed as slackers.
The board estimates that there are about sixty such cases in the county. These men will be reported to the police officials and are subject to arrest when found.
