Turtle Bread
March 24, 1976

Giant loaves of French type bread in the form of turtles was donated by the Safeway Bakery for the second annual Mardi Gras Festival sponsored by the Knights of Columbus at the Msgr. Moran Hall on Saturday night.

Verna Silva, grand knight, said that about 150 attended the event and he expressed thanks to all who attended and to the members and their wives for their help.

Frank Maurino, who did all the decorations for the festival, delighted those attending with his gorilla make-up.

Most ticlets for the festival were sold by John Choo.

Pictured at the Safeway Bakery prior to the delivery of the turtle bread loaves are Dick Crockett, head baker, Marla Treece, Rick Murphey, Dan Sanches and John Choo.
