Area of thunderstorms impacting western Nevada and eastern California through 530 PM
At 411 PM PDT… Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from near Frenchman Lake to near Hallelujah Junction to near Dog Valley. Movement was east at 15 mph.
Half inch hail and winds in excess of 40 mph will be possible with these storms. Brief moderate to heavy rain is also likely with these storms. The northern portion of these storms will pass over the Seven Lakes and rock fire burn scars.
Locations impacted include… Reno… Sparks… Spanish Springs… Hallelujah Junction… Frenchman Lake… Verdi-Mogul… Stead… Cold Springs valley and Chilcoot-Vinton.
Precautionary/preparedness actions…
Moderate to heavy rainfall is occurring with these storms. Expect ponding of water on roadways. In areas of steep terrain… minor rock slides are possible. Drivers should slow down and turn on their headlights if encountering heavy rains.
