NWS Weather Bulletin: Strong Thunderstorms in Honey Lake Valley and Surrounding Areas

National Weather Service Reno NV
STRONG THUNDERSTORMS POSSIBLE INTO THE EARLY EVENING HOURS

Isolated to widely scattered thunderstorms continue to develop from the Lake Tahoe region north into Sierra, Plumas and Lassen counties in northeast California. Storms are also forming into central and northern Washoe County in Nevada. Any storms that form will remain nearly stationary or move very slowly.

The slow movement of the storms will lead to periods of moderate to heavy rain. The strongest storms may produce winds gusts in excess of 40 mph and small hail as well.

The storms will continue through 9 pm this evening.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

Heavy rainfall is occurring with many of these storms. Expect ponding of water on roadways. In areas of steep terrain, minor rock slides are possible. Drivers should slow down and turn on their headlights if encountering heavy rains.
