The Susanville Police Department has issued a brief statement after receiving numerous inquiries about an alleged incident that was supposed to occur tomorrow, December 15th, during an assembly at Lassen High School.
“The information regarding a former student had been investigated on November 6th,” explains Interim Susanville Cheif of Police Michael Bengoa-Bollinger.
“The former student had been contacted about the alleged threats by area law enforcement. After an investigation, there was no credible threat made by the former student and it was found to be unsubstantiated. These rumors have again been recirculated recently over social media.”
Bengoa-Bollinger added that Lassen’s School Resource Officer has diligently followed up on the rumors with the assistance of the school’s administration.
“Again, this recent information appears to be the same as the prior investigation conducted in November and is still found to be unsubstantiated. Most of the information floating out on social media is untrue and causing undo stress in our community and the student body.”
Officers from the SPD will be present at the assembly tomorrow, “in support of making the students feel safe.”
