Lassen County’s District 3 Supervisor Larry Wosick is running the 26-mile Bizz Johnson Marathon today to help out with two very deserving causes. Wosick, who is the first county supervisor to take part in the annual Boston Marathon qualifier, will be taking pledges for each mile he runs.
Money raised will benefit the (SAAC) Special Athletes and Activities Club and the Janesville School music program – both characterized by Wosick as ‘incredible student programs.’
The Special Athletes and Activities Club is made up of special-needs students and offered through Lassen College.
“These special athletes rely on fundraising opportunities to be able to participate in their chosen athletic activities,” explains Wosick. “Through the 26-mile effort, together we can raise substantial funding to pay for their activities well into the future.”
Janesville School’s music program, which lost its funding several years ago, has been kept alive by fundraising efforts and generous volunteer work. Now funds are needed for repairs of existing musical instruments as well as the need to purchase additional instruments.
Donors will be recognized at the presentation of funds to both organizations during a Board of Supervisor’s session in November.
