A local dancer was chosen from a field of more than 5,000 talented performers from around the world to take part in the New York City Rockettes’ Summer Intensive, a program for dancers to train along side the Rockettes in the Radio City Music Hall, in New York City.
Hailey Gregor, a Susanville City Kickette from J and J Performing Arts, landed a coveted spot in the Intensive and will head to NYC this month. Her audition consisted of jazz, tap and kickline combinations.
According to J and J Performing Arts director Jessica Wade, Gregor has been training for the last seven years in ballet, jazz, hip hop, clogging, acro and modern dance.
“She is an award winning competitive soloist. She dedicates over 10 hours a week to her art. She is a scholar student as a Lassen High School junior and on the LHS Drill Team.”
Hailey has been fundraising for the Intensive and gaining community sponsors. She will be representing Lassen County in the Big Apple and, according to Wade, cannot wait to bring back what she learns to share with her community.
“The Susanville City Kickettes share their talents all over Susanville,” said Wade. “Performing in parades and shows as well as for community events as well as teaching dance classes for the McKinley after school students.”
