Susanville Man Arrested After Barricading Himself in Home and Resisting Arrest

A Susanville man was arrested early Sunday morning after allegedly forcing his way into an Arnold Street residence where he barricaded himself and refused to leave until Susanville Police Department K-9 Unit Zeke convinced him that resisting arrest was not the prudent thing to do.

Officers responded to the residence after receiving a report that a person had broken into the home. When they arrived they found a man inside the house, identified as 35-year old Susanville resident Michael Morales, who police say forced his way into the home.

“Morales refused to leave on officers orders, then evaded the officers within the home and eventually barricaded himself,” explains Susanville Police Chief Kevin Jones.

Officers tried to gain compliance from Morales, but according to Jones he became physically combative and threatened the officers on scene.

“In attempt to apprehend Morales, he assaulted officers and K-9 Zeke was utilized to gain compliance. Zeke’s force ultimately gained compliance from Morales. Morales was ultimately put into custody.”

Morales was arrested and booked into the Lassen County Jail for Trespassing, Felony Vandalism, Resisting Arrest and Terrorist Threats. He is being held on $30,000 bail.
