Zeke, the Susanville Police Department’s K-9 Officer, uncovered a large quantity of methamphetamine in a vehicle late Saturday night as officers conducted a traffic stop on Russell Avenue.

According to Police Captain Ryan Cochran, officers had stopped the vehicle in the 100 block of Russell Avenue for a traffic violation.

“During the traffic stop K-9 Zeke was utilized and made a positive alert on the vehicle,” Cochran explained. “The vehicle was subsequently searched and resulted in 27.9 grams of methamphetamine being located and other evidence indicative of drug sales.”

The driver, identified by the SPD as 40-year old Susanville resident Shawn David Moyer, was arrested for possession of controlled substances for sale.

Moyer was booked into the Lassen County Jail and is being held on $20,000 bond.

On Sunday, according to Captain Cochran, officers conducted a search warrant of Moyer’s residence and located additional evidence of drug sales.
