Weather Bulletin: Winter Weather Advisory Begins at 4:00a.m.

The National Weather Service office in Reno has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for northeastern California and northern Washoe County warning area residents to expect slick, hazardous conditions overnight and throughout the day on Monday.

The Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 4:00a.m. until 7:00p.m. Monday.

Forecasters expect freezing rain and snow with ice accumulations from a light glaze up to a tenth of an inch. Light snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches above 7500 feet, with localized heavier amounts to 6 inches.

Winds will be gusting as high as 35 mph.

Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous. Very slippery sidewalks are possible. The hazardous conditions could impact the Monday morning and evening commutes.

Slow down and use caution while traveling. Prepare for possible power outages. The latest road conditions for the state you are calling from can be obtained by calling 5 1 1.

Be prepared for slippery roads. Slow down and use caution while driving. If you are going outside, watch your first few steps taken on stairs, sidewalks, and driveways. These surfaces could be icy and slippery, increasing your risk of a fall and injury.
