Beginning Wednesday, June 12th, you can enjoy outdoor yoga in one of the most scenic locales in Susanville – the Helipad high above Susanville Ranch Park. Classes are held every Wednesday at 6:30p.m., from now through September, and give participants a chance to practice yoga with a backdrop of one of the valley’s most spectacular views.
Students will meet at the Paul Bunyan Road parking area off of Cherry Terrace, marked by large orange and black gate, around 6:00p.m., to walk up to the helipad.
It’s not a long hike, but it is steep and it’s recommended that you wear appropriate footwear for the hike and bring drinking water and a yoga mat. Wear comfortable, stretchable clothing.
Class starts at 6:30 so give yourself enough time for the hike up. A suggested donation of 5 to 10 dollars will be accepted by the instructor.
“Teaching this year is Natalie Pyrooz, a very enthusiastic yogi who will guide you through a 40-45 minute sequence,” explains organizer Kelly Fairbank.
According to Fairbank, Pyrooz loves teaching yoga, especially outdoors.
“She first started teaching in 2016 and has studied yoga both in India and the U.S. Her class integrates mindfulness and meditation into the asana practice, the yoga poses.”
She will guide a slow flow of postures to help you feel more at ease, peaceful and content in your body, mind and spirit.
