  H.L. (Dub) Martin Dub Martin passed away peacefully on October 14th 2013. He was born Hoyett Lemoin Martin to parents Lester and Estelle Martin on July 4th 1924 in Prescott, Arkansas. As a tot, he was nicknamed "Dub" by his grandfather. As a teen, Dub moved to Tucson, Arizona and at age 17 he enlisted in the Navy. During WWII, he was a gunner on both the U.S.S. Astoria and the U.S.S. West Virginia. Following his honorable discharge, he returned to Tucson and worked at the racetrack as a groomer.
