A Susanville resident was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of driving a motor vehicle under the influence of an alcoholic beverage after the car she was driving collided with a tree on the north side of Cypress Street just west of the Richmond Road intersection.
At around 4:30 Wednesday afternoon officers from the Susanville Police Department responded to the area of Cypress Street for a single-vehicle traffic collision involving injuries. Upon arriving on scene, officers located a vehicle that had run off the road and struck a tree.
The driver of the sedan, according to Police Lieutenant Matt Wood, was identified as 54 year-old Susanville resident Leila Martinez. Martinez was transported to Banner Lassen Medical Center by SEMSA ambulance for treatment of moderate injuries to her arms.
The passenger in Martinez’s vehicle, identified as 63 year-old Susanville resident Gregorio Martinez, was not injured during the collision.
As a result of the investigation and her injuries, said Lieutenant Wood, Martinez was later arrested on suspicion of driving a motor vehicle while under the influence of an alcoholic beverage and released with a Notice to Appear.
The case has been referred to the Lassen County District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
