Monticola Club Looking for Vendors

It’s that time of year again! Leaves are starting to yellow, the nights are getting longer, and Thanksgiving and Christmas are right around the corner. The ladies at the Monticola Club are already busy preparing for this year’s annual Christmas Boutique, Craft Fair, and Country Store, and they are officially calling for vendors to join the 2026 event.
The festive holiday boutique will take place at the historic Monticola Clubhouse, located at 140 S. Lassen Street in Susanville. Doors open to the public on Friday, November 13th, from 3:00 to 7:00p.m., with vendor setup beginning earlier that morning at 9:00a.m. The boutique will continue through Saturday, November 14th, from 9:00a.m. to 4:00p.m.
Visitors will find an array of unique, handmade gifts, crafts from talented local artists, exciting raffles, and plenty of delicious food, making it the perfect place to discover something wonderful to surprise that special someone.
Vendor spaces are available for $40 per eight-foot table space. Because space is limited and spots fill quickly, tables are reserved on a strict first-come, first-served basis. Interested crafters and merchants can secure a spot by mailing their completed vendor application and check, made out to the Monticola Club, to Naomi Turner at 714-405 Lake Leavitt Road, Susanville, CA 96130. Click here to download the printable application.
For more details, you can reach Naomi by email at [email protected] or by phone at 1.530.310.3496.
Established in 1912 as a women’s service organization dedicated to improving the quality of life throughout the local area, the Monticola Club uses event proceeds to fund scholarships for local students and support essential community projects. Whether you participate as a vendor or stop by to shop, your support makes a lasting local difference.

Laureen Jordan Releases New Children’s Book on Mindfulness and Compassion
Laureen Jordan, owner of Fair Winds Reiki & Mindfulness, has announced the release of her debut children’s picture book, The Super Secret Art of Inviting Happiness: Reiki Wisdom for Mindful Kids. Recommended for children ages five to eight, the newly published book offers young readers and their families an engaging, accessible introduction to mindfulness and emotional well-being.
The idea for the book took root years ago as Jordan watched family members navigate the challenge of teaching young children emotional resilience. Recognizing a genuine need for relatable resources that encourage heartfelt conversations, Jordan drew inspiration from the core principles of Reiki, which focus on letting go of anger and worry while cultivating gratitude, honesty, and kindness.
Jordan, who works with clients locally to foster balance and healthier thinking habits, originally began writing a guide for adults before realizing how vital these lessons are for younger minds. She noted that while many people find it easy to be kind to others, extending that same compassion inward can be a struggle. She set out to create a framework that helps children build self-worth and healthy habits early on, long before harsh inner critics take hold.
The Super Secret Art of Inviting Happiness adapts the traditional Reiki Precepts into everyday scenarios that children can easily grasp. Through relatable stories, the book explores big emotions like anger and anxiety, teaching kids that having difficult feelings doesn’t make them bad and making mistakes doesn’t make them failures.
Above all, Jordan hopes the book serves as a springboard for connection between children and adults, reminding families to embrace each moment “just for today.” By taking life one day at a time, children learn to offer themselves grace, do their best, and try again tomorrow.
The Super Secret Art of Inviting Happiness: Reiki Wisdom for Mindful Kids is available now for purchase on Amazon and can be ordered through local bookstores.
