Lassen County Gets New Patrol Boat for Eagle Lake

HARVEY HOUK, representing the California Department of Navigation and Ocean Development, hands over the keys to a new 23 foot patrol boat for Eagle Lake to Lassen Supervisor Board Chairman Ralph Couso in dedication ceremonies at Eagle Lake Monday, Aug. 14.
The craft, which features tunnel drive and a flying bridge, was purchased with federal funds administered through the state.
In addition to the $13,012 for the boat and trailer, the state will also pay the salaries of the boats’ two operators. This funding will continue in the future.
The Eagle Lake patrol is a function of the Lassen County Sheriff’s Department. The boat is especially suited for the lake, since it can operate in water as shallow as 14 inches and is very stable in rough water.
